Born London. Entered Goldsmiths in 1921, returned there after WWll and became principal in 1966. Lived Wimbledon. Produced 92 etching. He exhibited 28 times at the RA and 27 at the RE. (where he was President for 5 years) One of the most influential artists of the 20th century with references to a deep poetic quality of his work.
Ours is an etching/aquatint of an old lady at a market stall with a hen. It is in fine condition and measures 285 x 375mm. There is a blind stamp, lower left telling that it is from the Memorial portfolio and is plate 6, Edition A/25
