Henderson, Will - 'The Mill'

Fl late 19th/early 20th century. Mezzotint is regarded as by far the most difficult print medium. Mr. Henderson built his stunning reputation on his interpretation of works after the brilliant artists of the day. He made prints from originals by Turner, Gainsborough, George Romney, Birket-Foster et-al. He was well exhibited inc. 9 at the RA.
This mezzotint is of 'THE MILL' by REMBRANDT. The original is in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Art, Washington. Published by Gainsborugh Galleries, London in 1919. Signed in pencil.
Is now well over 100 years old and like 'The Old Stone Bridge' is in remarkable condition. It has no colour drop but does have very slight foxing. Image measures 310 x 375mm.
Our thanks to Nick Pearce who identified the print for us.
