Aldin, Cecil - Kings Head & Old Gentleman with Pipe
CECIL CHARLES WINDSOR ALDIN 1870 - 1935.
Sporting, coaching etc. painter and illustrator, born Slough, lived near Reading. Much exhibited inc. the RA. and the Fine Art Society.
Shown here are 2 lithographs from his paintings. Both are signed on the plate and The Inn is annotated in pencil, 'The Kings Head Inn, Aylesbury' They are strictly not a pair but I sell them together as they have been best-pals for 100 years or so. Both are now mounted the same with 100% museum board; they should last another 100.
There are glue stains UNDER the mount of The Inn and do not show; there is a very slight mark about half way up left side, outside the plate mark but inside the mount(about 3mm long) The Inn measures 165 x 140mm. There is a small crease just below the signature of the Old Gentleman with Pipe. He maeasures 220 x 325mm.
